Dr. Miguel A. Perez-Pinzon received the Neuroscience Graduate Program Award for Outstanding Dissertation Mentor. This award recognizes a faculty member in the Neuroscience graduate program who has been an exceptional mentor to graduate students who are completing or have completed their dissertation research in the faculty member’s laboratory.

Ms. Iris Escobar received the Neuroscience Graduate Program Award for Research Distinction, which recognizes excellence in research scholarship as exemplified by research progress, presentations at scientific meetings, journal publications, and awarded fellowships.

  1. Dr. Ashish Rehni presented his work (Rehni AK, Cho S, Dave KR. 2020. Prior exposure to recurrent hypoglycemia in treated diabetic rats enhances post-ischemic ER stress via increased acidosis and free radical-production) at the Graduate and Postdoctoral Research Symposium held at the University of Miami, March 2020.
  2.  Dr. Kunjan Dave presented their work (Rehni A. K., Cho S., Navarro Quero H., Koch S., Ahn Y. S., Perez-Pinzon M. A., Jy W., Dave K. R. Therapeutic Window of Red Cell Microparticles in Limiting Hematoma Growth in a Rat Model of Intracerebral Hemorrhage.) at the International Stroke Conference 2020 in February 2020.
  3.  Dr. Kunjan Dave gave invited lecture at the Barrow Neurological institute, Phoenix, March 2020.
  4. Dr. Raval delivered a talk entitled ”Physical Exercise and cognitive recovery in animal models: sex differences.” at the Cognitive Decline in Women (a Go Red for Women) Session, International Stroke Conference February 2020 at Los Angeles.
  5.  Dr. Raval presented  their work (Saravanan S, Furones CF, Zhao WZ, Dave KR, Perez-Pinzon MA, Raval AP. Post-stroke physical exercise improves cognition in middle-aged female rats.) at the International Stroke Conference February 2020 at Los Angeles.
